Alexander Hamilton

The immigrant orphan who became the first Treasury Secretary and the most forceful advocate for the Constitution he had helped draft. He wrote the largest share of the Federalist Papers, the essays that argued New York into ratification, and built the financial architecture of the new republic almost by force of will. He died in a duel with a sitting Vice President. His arguments outlived the bullet.
