Friedrich Engels

The factory owner's son who became Marx's collaborator, editor, and financial support, and who wrote with him the Manifesto that bears both their names. His own observations of industrial Manchester gave the partnership its grounding in conditions rather than theory alone. He spent years after Marx's death completing and publishing the work his friend left unfinished.
